Victor Burtas was born in 1963 in Mordovia. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1986. In St. Petersburg Victor Burtas met A. Kondratiev and organized "Kochev'e"- artists' association. "Kochev'e" inherited and continued the traditions of Russian avant-garde of early XX century. Their art was inspired by such Russian masters as Malevich, Filonov and Petrov-Vodkin.

"Kochev'e" and Victor Burtas were exhibited in Moscow, St. Peteresburg, Warsaw and Paris. Victor's work was bought for private collections in the US, Germany, UK, Poland, Hungary and Finland.
